KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knoxville Police Department is searching for an armed man it says robbed a payday loan business in Bearden. They say he could also be responsible for a purse snatching at a grocery store.
The purse snatching happened the morning of June 6th at the Aldi located at 2801 Schaad Road. A woman says her purse was grabbed out of her cart by a man who then ran off in a blue Honda CRV.
"I'm terrified now," said the victim. "I didn't even know he was there."
The woman said the suspect got away with everything inside her purse, including $800, all of her credit cards, check books, her social security card and her Medicare card.
The vehicle the suspected thief used to drive away from Aldi matches the description of the vehicle used by the suspect wanted for the Cash Express robbery that occurred on Monday, June 11.
Officers responded to reported of that robbery at 5:04 p.m. Monday at Cash Express, 8373 Kingston Pike. Employees told officers a white man with a handgun came up to the front counter and demanded money. The employee gave it to him, and the suspect drove off in a blue Honda CRV with a temporary tag.
The suspect has a thin build and is about 5'6" to 5'8".
