Faith the Labrador joins TBI to help sniff out the cause behind fires

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation showed off Faith, a 2-year-old Labrador, at Tuesday's media day event.

Faith, the newest member of the TBI team, can detect accelerants to find out what chemicals were used to start a fire. TBI said she trains 365 days a year; what would have taken investigators days to weeks to solve, takes her just a couple hours at most.

TBI said Faith is the first of her kind on the force, and they're thrilled to have her helping out across the state.

Other media day events included a tour of a forensic lab to see how scientist collect and process evidence. The media also got to learn about things like opioid and other drug-related issues, cybercrime, AMBER Alerts, top 10 alerts and human trafficking.
