WACO, Texas (WVLT) -- On Thursday, Chip and Joanna Gaines, the couple behind HGTV's hit show Fixer Upper, announced Tuesday that season five of the show would be their last.
In a post to the couple's website, the couple said, "Our family is healthy and our marriage has honestly never been stronger. This has nothing to do with a fraudulent skincare line or anything else you'll inevitably read. This is just us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment.
"Our plan is to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses," the post continued.
The new season of the show is set to begin in November, with a program called Behind the Design following.
The couple ended their post with a thank you to their crew, HGTV, producers and, of course, their dedicated viewers. They said they are not done working in Waco, restoring homes and completing design work.
As for the future of the couple's television programming career, the post said they were uncertain, and "we're excited for whatever is around the bend and in the meantime, we will definitely be staying in touch."
