KPD: Lottery winner robbed at gunpoint on E. Magnolia Ave.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Tennessee Lottery winner was robbed at gunpoint after cashing in his winning ticket at the Thums Up Exxon on E. Magnolia Avenue on January 1, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Authorities say a man cashed in his $200 winning Tennessee Lottery ticket at the Thums Up Exxon at 2561 E. Magnolia Avenue at 9:56 p.m. on January 1.

Investigators say the lottery winner was getting into his vehicle when a man who had also been in the store put a gun to the victim’s side and demanded the money.

After the money was handed over, the suspect fled on foot and ran towards Cherry Street.

The victim was not injured.

Police describe the suspect as a black male in his early to mid 20’s with light skin and a mustache. He was wearing a dark hoodie.
