Two questioned in shooting death of Knoxville woman

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- On Tuesday, the Knoxville Police Department Investigators detained two suspects wanted for questioning in the May 19 shooting death of Shanna Harmon.

One of the suspects was detained at a home located in the 3100 block of Huron Street. Investigators searched the residence for evidence related to the homicide.

28-year-old Shanna Harmon was shot on Chickamauga Ave at Oswald Street just before 3:30 Friday morning. Harmon was unresponsive when police responded and transported to UT Medical for life threatening injuries. She died as a result of her injuries.

According to the preliminary investigation, the victim and a man were involved in a verbal argument when the man shot Harmon. The man fled from the scene.

Minutes later, patrol officers found a vehicle with a stolen license plate near the shooting scene behind Food City on Mineral Springs Avenue.

When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver fled. After a brief chase, the suspect drove off the road and into a creek near the Broadway Shopping Center.

The male fled from the vehicle on foot, and officers were unable to locate the suspect. Police said it is uncertain if the suspect was connected to the earlier shooting.
