KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Brr! The temperatures are dropping and Chief Meteorologist David Aldrich offered a road map for finding snow starting Friday, Dec. 8!
For those looking to embrace the cold by going where the white stuff is, David predicted the best chance for snow showers and flurries on Friday could be found along the Tennessee and North Carolina border. The highest peaks of Clingmans Dome, Mount LeConte and Newfound Gap could experience up to two inches of snow.
The most snow and accumulation can be found a short drive from Knoxville. David Aldrich said visitors in the North Carolina cities of Asheville, Bryson City, and Maggie Valley could encounter a half inch to two inches of snow starting Friday.
What does that mean for slippery roads? David predicted drivers heading east on Friday could be impacted by slick and snow-covered roadways, especially on those leading through the mountains into North Carolina.
By Saturday, David predicted snow showers and flurries would increase late in the afternoon and evening from the northwest.
