KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Meteorologist Heather Haley put on her dancing shoes to help raise money for East Tennessee Children's Hospital by competing in Dancing with the Knoxville Stars.
The competition was held Saturday, April 14, at the Knoxville Convention Center.
Heather set up some fundraising events across East Tennessee, so folks wanting to donate to a good cause could lend their support, and have a fun time!
Heather competed with other local celebrities like former Local 8 News personality Sara Mitchell, Pediatric Hospitalist Dr. Amit Patel, and Volunteer Community Philanthropist Sylvia Peters. Judges awarded Heather's performance with scores, out of ten, a nine and two eights.
Dr. Amit Patel raised the most money; more than $21,000. WBIR's Leslie Ackerson won best performance. All $89,000 raised Saturday goes toward buying equipment for East Tennessee Children's Hospital.
Since the Dancing with the Knoxville Stars event began in 2009, it has raised more than one million dollars for East Tennessee Children's Hospital through donations, ticket sales and VIP table sales.
This was the final year for Knoxville's Dancing with the Stars.
