Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT)-- It won't be long before new Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt devotes all his attention towards the Big Orange. In the meantime, he's back with Alabama helping the Tide defense prepare for a tremendous challenge against Clemson in Monday night National Semifinal showdown.
Coach Pruitt made it clear he did not want to take questions about Tennessee while meeting with the media in new Orleans on Friday, again, wanting to focus on Alabama, but when asked about balancing both jobs, especially recruiting for Tennessee, he said, "... - I'm employed by Tennessee and I'm recruiting for Tennessee but when I get here I owe it to these guys I helped recruit to Alabama there's plenty of hours in a day to balance it everyday."
Now while Pruitt's serious about the task at hand, he can have some fun as he did recently while the Bama coaches were calling on those afore mentioned recruits saying, "... We’ve got a couple more you need to call, coach,’” Pruitt said. “Coach Saban looked at him, nobody said anything, and he said, ‘Well who?’ “Tosh just kind of paused and I said, ‘Tosh, do you need me to leave the room?’ Everybody got a kick out of it.”
Coach Pruitt went on to say, "..We all recruit the same guys, we're gonna recruit the same guys that Florida State does, that LSU does, that Auburn does. The thing about it is the guys on all these staffs we're all friends and there's not gonna be any recruit that's gonna get in the way of our friendship if that makes sense. If we're not recruiting the same guys that Alabama and Florida State and Auburn and Georgia's recruiting or Ohio State then we're probably recruiting the wrong guys."
Pruitt, who was introduced as UT's head coach back on December 7th. will remain with the Crimson Tide thru the College Football Playoffs.
