LOS ANGELES (WVLT) -- The CW's newest series, Life Sentence, debuts Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET. Local 8 News Anchor Brittany Tarwater went to Hollywood to catch up with the star of the new show, Lucy Hale.

Hale described her goals for what she wanted to get out of the show, and what she wants fans to take away.
"It is one of those shows where you start watching, and you're like, 'What am I getting into?' because it starts as one thing and then becomes a show about something else," she said.
The show deals with a serious topic -- cancer. However, Hale said the subject has more layers than may first appear.
"Once we find out Stella is going to live, it becomes a show about self-realization," she said.
At its core, though, Hale said the show was shot with a relatable message.
"The foundation of it is sacrifice and love," Hale said. "Self-love and love for everyone else around you and I think people will relate to not knowing what the next step to make is. We've all been there."
Catch Life Sentence at 9 p.m. on Wednesday night on the CW.
