Tennessee Welcomes Ron Paul

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Presidential candidate Ron Paul drew a crowd in Nashville this weekend.

Campaign officials said the crowd of about 1,500 at the War Memorial Auditorium yesterday was Paul's largest rally to date.

The Texas congressman who has conducted much of his campaign over the Internet surprised political analysts recently by announcing a $5 million haul last quarter, giving him more cash on hand than John McCain.

Paul is an anti-war Libertarian who has attracted an eclectic crowd of supporters.

He's against a federal income tax, the Iraq war, the United Nations and the drug war and opposes post-Sept. 11 security measures that he considers an invasion of privacy.
