Blount Standoff Suspect to Get Court-Ordered Test

Anthony Todd Ghormley, 41. Charged in connection with Blount County standoff in which three people were injured

MARYVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- A competency test has been granted for a Blount County man charged with beating three women while holding police at bay last month.

Anthony Ghormley is expected in court for a preliminary hearing on Monday.

The charges stem from a September incident last month in which Blount County deputies say Ghormley beat his wife, his wife's cousin, and their grandmother with a baseball bat.

The incident happened just days after Ghormely and his wife got married.

Ghormley is charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, two counts of attempted first degree murder, drug possession and driving under he influence.

He is being held in the Blount County Jail on a $850,000 bond.
