Three East Tennesseans Head to SoCal to Assist Red Cross

KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- Three East Tennesseans will soon be in Southern California helping the American Red Cross.

Peggy Anderson and Teresa Dorian leave the McGhee Tyson Airport this evening.

They are both volunteers.

Chris Davis from the American Red Cross in Knoxville says Anderson will be helping other volunteers get temporary shelter for those who have lost their homes and those who have been evacuated.

Davis says Dorian willl be on the Disaster Assistance team. She will be going out and assessing homes that have been damaged or destroyed.

And tomorrow, Red Cross staffer Katie Hutcheson will leave for Southern California.

Hutcheson is the Director of Volunteering in Knoxville.

Davis says she will be responsible to making sure volunteers are set for their duties in California, and she'll also assign volunteers to different jobs.
