Frist Becoming Partner In Investment Firm

NASHVILLE (AP) -- Former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is becoming a partner in a recently formed private investment firm.

He is joining Cressey & Company LP of Chicago, which will focus on the health care industry.

Frist, of Nashville, was a heart-lung surgeon before his election to the Senate in 1994. Earlier this month he said he is considering a bid for Tennessee governor in 2010.

Frist, a Republican, abandoned a widely expected presidential bid last year, and is now focusing on global health issues.

He was elected to the Senate in 1994 and did not seek re-election in 2006, fulfilling a pledge he made in 1994 to serve two terms.
