National Park officials close highway 441 through the smokies

Great Smoky Mountains National Park (WVLT) - The National Park Services says heavy snowfall has forced them to close Highway 441 between the Sugarland Visitor's Center and Cherokee North Carolina.

Park Officials Say Newfound Gap recieved about three inches of new snow, and with temperatures not expected to get above freezing, they say they aren't sure when the road will reopen.
