Police say fire that gutted courthouse was result of arson

BARDWELL, Ky. (AP) -- A fire that nearly destroyed a western Kentucky courthouse the day after Christmas has now been ruled arson.

Kentucky State Police say the Kentucky Association of Counties is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the burning of the Carlisle County Courthouse. Information may be given to police at (800) 222-5555.

The investigation is still under way.

No one was inside when the blaze broke out.

An official has said the courthouse was built in the early 1980s after the previous courthouse was burned down by an arsonist.
