Case against Hamblen man charged in foster child's death bound to grand jury

MORRISTOWN, Tenn (WVLT) -- The reckless homicide case against a Hamblen County foster father has been bound over to a grand jury.

That decision made after a brief preliminary hearing for Ken Taylor in Hamblen County Court this morning.

Taylor is charged with reckless homicide in connection with the death of Jordan Kaleb Shelton, 16.

But sources tell Volunteer TV News that Hamblen County investigators will seek a more serious indictment, possibly First Degree Murder, when the grand jury meets later this month.

A source close to the case says the autopsy report indicates that Shelton died of strangulation after Taylor placed him in a choke-hold back in November.
