Man Charged With shooting West Tennessee Police Officer

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A Memphis man is charged with shooting a police officer over the weekend who was serving a drug warrant inside a hotel.

Albert Taylor faces four counts of attempted second degree murder, aggravated assault, weapons charges and possession of crack cocaine.

Police say a bullet traveled through the shoulder of a woman Taylor was using as a shield before striking the officer in the chin.

The officer was taken in non-critical condition to a Memphis hospital. Police say the woman, identified as Patricia Walker, was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
