Anderson County, Clinton City Schools closed due to flu

CLINTON, Tenn (WVLT) -- Anderson County Schools and Clinton City Schools are closing through Friday, due to illness.

Anderson County Schools were already on a half day today, Clinton City Schools will finish the day. Classes are scheduled to resume on Monday for students and staff.

WVLT Volunteer TV's Stacy McCloud reports, Anderson County Schools Superintendent V.L. Stonecipher tells her absences district- wide are approaching 20%.

Stonecipher says 229 students were out today at Anderson County High School, 307 were absence at Clinton High School, and Lake City Elementary had 107 of their approximately 500 students out of class today.

Administrators say flu and flu-like illnesses are common.
