Hunter faces charges in pet deer shooting

MCMINNVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A hunter faces charges after Warren County sheriff's deputies say he killed someone's pet deer.

Cpt. Tommy Myers says David Allen Beard confessed to spotlighting and shooting a pet fallow deer that was within a fenced area on private property.

The deer's owner says the animal was worth over $5,000.

Beard is charged with spotlighting, theft and shooting from a roadway.

Myers said Beard was captured after neighbors heard shooting and called authorities.
