Requirements for TN lottery scholarships

Knoxville (WVLT) -- The state attorney general says that extenuating circumstances should not make college students exempt from GPA requirements for a lottery scholarship.

The Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation requested the exceptions for students whose GPA fell below standards because of personal or medical circumstances.

None of the scholarships created by Tennessee law permit such eligibility exemptions.

Currently a student must be enrolled full-time to keep the scholarship.

Students must maintain a 2.75 GPA after their freshman year, and a 3.0 the following year's to keep the scholarship.
