Gunman expresses remorse in suicide note for killing 4

BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) -- A man who shot and killed four people in Bristol, then killed himself over the break-up with his girlfriend, expressed remorse in a suicide note and apologized for his actions.

Police Thursday released the one-page note written by 26-year-old Rusty L. Rumley of Watauga. On Wednesday, he opened fire in the 10-story Edgemont Towers, a public housing high-rise, where she and her family lived.

Police also released a 15-page letter Rumley wrote prior to the shootings.

In the letter, Rumley describes his love for his girlfriend, calling her the girl of his dreams.

She was not hurt.
