Alert Anderson Co. deputy stops two suspected robbers in two days

CLINTON, Tenn (WVLT) -- Anderson County Sheriff's Deputy Shawn Bannach has a good eye for catching suspected bad guys.

In fact, his good eyes caught two suspected robbers in just three days.

Bannach and Deputy Brian Hubbard were able to spot a car wanted in connection with a holdup at the CVS Pharmacy on Emory Road around 11:00 a.m. this morning.

Hubbard and Bannach caught up with the car near the Lake
City exit, but the car fled north and eventually headed into Kentucky where it was stopped and the driver was arrested.

On Saturday, Bannach was on the way home from an off-duty job when he spotted a vehicle matching the description of one that had been used just minutes before in a robbery at the Rocky Top Market in Clinton.

The vehicle was stopped on Farmer’s Hollow Road and William John Weaver, 37, of Beaumont Avenue in Knoxville, was charged by the Clinton Police with Aggravated Robbery.

“This is a good example of teamwork between law enforcement agencies," Anderson County Sheriff Paul White said. "Deputies Bannach and Hubbard are to be commended for their vigilance. Two robbery suspects are now in jail because of being alert."
