Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT) - A Knox County man is charged with aggravated assault after allegedly putting a gun to his father's head, and reportedly shot at his mother and her 3-year-old great granddaughter as they ran out of the house.

Knox County Sheriff's deputies say the incident happened at 1018 Union School Road in around 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Timothy Lee Sellers, 48, had been drinking and taking prescription medications three days, Sellers mother Katherine Sellers told police.

Officials say a family member called 911 and said the suspect was armed with a gun and had barricaded himself inside the home with at least one other family member.

The Knox County SWAT Team was called in, because Sellers has a criminal history that includes aggravated assault charges.

The stand-off ended just a few hours later when officers were eventually able to arrest Sellers when his father took the gun away after Sellers apparently fell asleep on the couch.

At one time, dispatchers say over 30 KPD officers and Knox County Sheriff's Deputies had gathered at a nearby Pilot truck stop to handle the situation.
