UPDATE: Names released in fatal Knox County crash

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A head on crash in Knox County has taken two lives and injured three others.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office says the accident happened Wednesday evening around 6:20 on Mine Road in Mascot. A black Cadillac Escalade had broken down. The alternator went out, so there were no lights on the stalled SUV.

Deputies say a Dodge Caravan, driven by 46-year old Patricia Burroughs of White Pine, hit the Escalade then swerved into the oncoming lane. That's when police say the van collided with a Chrysler Town and Country van. The Chrysler flipped over and a 14-year old girl was thrown from the van. She's now in critical condition. Another 13-year old passenger is stable.

The driver, 30-year old Heather Miranda of Dandridge was airlifted to UT Medical Center where she later died.

Burroughs was also taken to UT Medical Center where she died. 64-year old Rosa Coleman was also in the Caravan. She's now in stable condition.

The driver of the Escalade was not hurt.
