Man arrested for stealing detergent pods and threatening manager

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Police say a man stole detergent pods from a grocery store and then threatened the store manager with a gun.

It happened Friday at about 10:00 PM at the Food City on Asheville Highway.

The store manager told police 35-year-old Michael Williams entered the business, took 4 buckets of detergent pods, and ran away.

The manager said he caught Williams outside.

Officers say Williams pointed a gun at him and threatened to shoot.

Police say Williams then drove off in a white truck.

Officers searched the area and found Williams, they also found a toy handgun that may have been used in the crime.

Williams was charged with theft and aggravated assault.
