Suspension lifted on Tennessee nursing home where 2 residents died

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The state Health Department is lifting an admissions suspension at Bedford County Nursing Home where two residents died recently.

Admissions were suspended following the May 25 death of a resident who fell from a lift chair after a bath.

Nursing home administrator Wayne Schumann said the facility has corrected problems.

Inspectors also determined a second resident death from a fall in late June was an accident and the home was not at fault.

After reviewing the nursing home last week, the state determined the suspension could be lifted.

Schumann estimates total fines against the home could near $250,000.
