Mayor's Step-Mother Injured in Purse Snatching

Knoxville (WVLT) - Knoxville Police have charged two brothers with robbing Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam's step mother.

Officers say 22-year-old Shawn Thrift and 31-year-old Bill Thrift grabbed Natalie Haslam's purse Thursday morning as she came out of a department store at the West Town Mall.

Ms. Haslam, the wife of Pilot chairman Jim Haslam, was knocked to the ground and taken to the hospital, where she was treated and released for minor arm and shoulder injuries.

The brothers were arrested about two hours later and are being held at the Knox County Detention Facility on robbery charges.
