Knoxville (WVLT) - Three days after a deadly hit and run near the UT campus, police are still searching for the driver.

KPD spokesman says investigators searching for the white SUV sought in this weekend's fatal his and run have not yet found the vehicle.

UT junior Morgan McCarty of Jackson was crossing the street in Fort Sanders early Saturday when she was struck, the driver fled.

Tuesday night, McCarty's Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority sisters decorated the corner with a memorial.

Published reports say Knoxville Police have located that SUV. Those reports say police found the wanted vehicle Monday morning near Norris Lake. Police spokesman Darrell DeBusk disputes those reports.

"We have one vehicle that we have impounded and that we are processing right now. But we have not tied that vehicle to that crash site at this point," DeBusk says.

Police are looking for a young white man with short hair driving a white Chevy Blazer, with a damaged headlight.

If you have any information, call the KPD hotline at 215-7212.

Morgan's friends will be holding a candlelight vigil at Circle Park on campus, Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.

Everyone is invited.
