Knoxville (WVLT) - We have a special visitor here in East Tennessee this afternoon. First Lady Laura Bush is here to support Republican Candidate for US Senate Bob Corker.

There's a lot of safety and security measures here tonight, the secret service asking guests to arrive at 4:30 for the event so everyone can be cleared through security.

In fact, we were just able to get through the doors just a few minutes ago.

The First Lady will be speaking around 5:00 p.m. tonight.

She's in town to attend a 'Tennessee Republican Party Reception'. It's a $1,000 per-person dinner for Bob Corker, the Republican Candidate for US Senate.

Hosting the event, Corker Finance Chairman, Jimmy Haslam from Pilot Corporation, former King Pharmaceutical Executive John Gregory and Oak Ridge National Laboratory Director Jeff Wadesworth.

This isn't the first time the President or his wife have stumped for Corker.

Mr. Bush spoke at a similar dinner in August in Nashville

Right now, Laura Bush is speaking at a "Help America's Youth" event at the Knox County Public Defender Community Law Office.

There's only one camera allowed into that event, taping for all stations.

We'll have a complete report on help America's Youth and Mrs. Bush coming up at 6:00.
