Fugitive Confirmed In Cumberland Gap Killings

Two people were found dead in Claiborne County late last month inside a package store.
Sheriff David Ray has confirmed a fugitive gunned down by police in Florida after a high speed chase on October 2nd is responsible for the killings.
September 27th, deputies found the bodies of Ralph Hopper and Julie Maiden in the Tunnel Two Package Store just minutes from the Cumberland Gap tunnel.
Deputies linked bullets from the scene to a gun found in William Ashby's car after the Florida shootout.
Investigators say in all, Ashby killed six people in the Southeast during a multi-state crime spree.
