Santa Visits Rome Family

Lafollette, Campbell County (WVLT) - Last week, we brought you the story of a Hurricane Katrina evacuee family, who moved to East Tennessee and lost everything they had in a house fire here.

It's the second time in a little more than a year the Rome family is starting over.

Wednesday, Santa Claus and Volunteer TV paid a special visit to the family, delivering new clothes and other necessities.

Santa also delivered the three young Rome girls Christmas presents a little early.

Sheryl Rome says over the last week, they've been made to feel like Volunteer State family.

"No, in New Orleans would not have. Like I said, we would have been just another homeless family. It's been so wonderful and great. And we just can't thank everyone enough for the help."

In addition to the delivery, the Romes' also received gift cards to help cover the cost of rebuilding their lives, thanks to donations from Hall's Salvage and Goody's.
