Pipeline Rupture Pours Oil Into Gulf Of Mexico

Houston (AP) -- The Coast Guard says the tide is pushing the oil away from shore, but about 21,000 gallons of medium crude have spilled into the Gulf of Mexico in a pipeline break.

Officials say workers are trying to contain the spill that poured into the water southeast of Galveston, Texas.

The Houston-based pipeline owners say oil is also being suctioned from the line.

A Coast Guard spokesman says the spill is not disrupting ship traffic.

The cause of the rupture is under investigation.
