Military Official Says Five Killed In Private Chopper Crash in Baghdad

Pentagon (AP) -- A US military official says five civilians died today in the crash of a helicopter owned by a private American security company in Baghdad.

The official says the cause of the crash isn't yet known, and the identities of the five civilians haven't been released.

Officials of the North Carolina-based company, Blackwater USA, responded to the scene of the crash in central Baghdad along with US military personnel.

In Baghdad, a senior Iraqi defense official said the private helicopter had been shot down.

Officials have also gathered evidence that a US Army Blackhawk helicopter that went down on Saturday, killing a dozen US troops, was brought down by hostile fire.
