Arrest Made in Second Harvest Burglaries

Knoxville (WVLT) - New information to the recent break ins at the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Police have arrested 38-year-old Willie Daniels on burglary and theft charges. They say he's allegedly been breaking into the Second Harvest Food Bank parking lot, siphoning gasoline from their trucks and stealing food from the truck-beds.

Administrators at the food bank say they've had to totally restructure their operation and say one program where they send food home on the weekends to hungry school kids has been affected.

"We feel like it's insulted the whole community. It's in your face stuff. We get so much support, but when you talk about the children that we are all working hard to feed, and then he comes in and messes with it, it's just exploitation truly," Elaine Machiela from Second Harvest said.

Police say they found Daniels hiding in a crawlspace of a relative's home on Louisiana Avenue.
