Knoxville (WVLT) -- We now know the names of the victim and his accused killer, after a Saturday night incident in North Knoxville.

Eric Jason Mclean, 31, has been charged with the First Degree Murder of 18-year-old Sean Powell.

Volunteer TV's Kim Bedford was on Coker Avenue on Sunday where less than 20 hours before, something went wrong in front of the Mclean home.

According to Police, Eric Jason Mclean shot and killed Sean Powell, who was sitting in a Mercedes in front of Mclean's house here on Coker Avenue, just before 9:30 on Saturday night.

According to a neighbor who did not want her identity disclosed, the night was going on like a normal one.

"I was watching TV," she said, "and the next thing I know, I heard a shot."

The woman lives across the street from Mclean and she told us that she ran outside to see what happened after the shots.

"I had seen Eric take off in their car. Then I got brave enough and shined my flashlight in the car and I did see that the man had been shot, young man."

She has known Mclean and his family for almost ten years and they've never had any problems.

"He's a good father. They've got two boys who go to school up here and every day he'd walk them to school."

Coker Avenue neighbors say that their community is small yet very safe. Most were stunned to learn of the crime and still others can only speculate.

"When someone sits outside your house with the car running for 15-20 minutes," the neighbor said, "it almost has to be personal to do that."

KPD was on the case quick, and with in two hours they had finished up at the crime scene and fanned their search for Mclean into the city.

At just after 9:00 on Sunday morning, police say a Norfolk Southern Railroad worker had to stop all trains near Cessna Road and Westland Drive, after he spotted Mclean on the tracks.

"He was sitting on the tracks with a rifle," said Mark Fortner of the Knoxville Police Department.

KPD says Mclean's car was found nearby. He was then taken in for questioning and by Sunday evening he had appeared before a judge.

Eric Mclean is currently at the Knox County Corrections Center. The judge denied him bond and he has been formally charged with First Degree Murder.
