Oak Ridge (WVLT) - When we describe our pets, man's best friend is considered a loyal companion, but for local one man, he's much more than that.
At Monday night's Oak Ridge City Council meeting, Nix the dog was honored for his distinguished career. He's been a specially trained drug detection and patrol K-9 alongside officer Jock Coleman for nine years.
Monday night Nix was officially retired, and in a special resolution, he was given to officer Coleman to live out his years.
"I could not fathom having this dog anywhere without me, but to be with me, there's no other place for him but with me, and if he could talk he'd tell you the same thing," Coleman said.
Officer Coleman says it's bond of friendship that will never be broken.
