Police, FBI Investigate West Knoxville Bank Heist

Knoxville (WVLT) – The FBI and Knoxville Police are investigating a bank robbery in West Knoxville.

Officials say a black man wearing a Denver Broncos baseball cap, a mask depicting a skull, a dark-colored Addidas jacket, blue jeans and carrying a handgun entered the AmSouth Bank on Kingston Pike at Winston Road around 10:00 a.m.

Witnesses described him as a black male in his forties, approximately 6' tall, medium build, weighing approximately 170 pounds with a short, unkempt haircut and graying facial hair.

The FBI says the suspect fled the scene with an undetermined amount of money in a white sedan, possibly a Chevrolet Impala.

KPD requested Bearden High School be placed on a partial lockdown for about an hour as a precaution. That lockdown has now ended.
