Five Tennesseans Flew With TB-Infected Plane Passenger

Nashville (AP) -- Five Tennessee residents were on flights with a man infected with a drug-resistant form of tuberculosis and may have been exposed to the disease.

State health officials said Thursday two people from East Tennessee, one from Middle Tennessee and two from Shelby County were on two trans-Atlantic flights with 31-year-old Andrew Speaker, an Atlanta lawyer.

Officials are still determining what type of treatment these individuals might need if they've been exposed and develop TB.

Right now, there's no indication that any of the Tennessee passengers have contracted TB. They were asked to visit their local health departments for TB skin tests and all have.

Officials did not release their names, citing patient privacy laws.
