Pizza Places Knead High Costs

Knoxville (WVLT) -- Last night we told you how dairy farmers are dealing with higher gas prices.

What you might not know is that pizza places have the same problem.

The higher fuel costs means pizzerias who deliver must pay drivers more money.

Higher dairy prices mean cheese costs more.

All combined, that makes things tougher for the local parlor, trying to compete with pizza chains, who can spread the costs over more stores.

"Customers now a days, they already have so many deals out there and you can't raise the prices so much," said Samir Rawashdeh, a manager at the Oscar's Restaurant on Kingston Pike. "So you have to keep your prices to compete in the market because you know there are so many places carrying the same product. Basically it hurts the business more than anything else."
