Mane Support Benefit Ride

Maryville (WVLT) -- Some horseback riders traded in their mounts, for man-made horsepower this weekend.

Smokey Mountain Harley Davidson sponsored this afternoon's Mane Support Benefit Ride.

Several riders joined the poker run from Maryville to Vonore and back up through Tellico Plains.

Each rider donated $10 and all the money goes to benefit Mane Support's unique equine assisted grief counseling programs.

"We do everything on ground with horses," said Kim Henry, executive director of Mane Support. "We do grief counseling with children, families and adults who have experienced a death or are anticipating a death and also other types of trauma."

The poker run had five stops.

At each, the riders picked up a different playing card.

When the ride was over they turned in their hand's and the best three winning prizes.
