Knoxville (WVLT) -- East Tennessee's second September 11th memorial on Sunday took place in Market Square, just a few hours after the 9/11 Remembrance Ride at Worlds Fair Park.
Police and fire departments from across the region were represented at the event called Knoxville Remembers.
It's highlights included speeches, readings from the U.S. Constitution and patriotic music.
"We believe this is a day to raise the colors and every flag waving red blooded American ought to be involved in this," said Clarence Sexton, president of Crown College. "We think our city is a great patriotic city along with our county. We just try to place an emphasis on what our values and heritage happen to be."
Mr. Sexton's Crown College hosts the event annually, along with local business leaders.
This year's theme was "A Salute to Freedom, the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave."
