KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- The American Red Cross is helping some American Heroes this holiday season by sending cards.

Since 2006, the group organizes a card drive to give thanks to military members, veterans and their families. They have sent nearly 5 million cards in the past 6 years.

It's a way for you to get together with family or friends and sent a "thank you" to our heroes to show how much they are appreciated

All you have to do is write a message of thanks or holiday cheer and mail it to the Red Cross. The group will make sure the cards are passed along.

Remember to keep the card messages generic so they can be delivered to service men, women and veterans.

Also, do not use glitter and don't send care packages. Keep it simple and just send a card.

If you'd like to send a card, mail it to:
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD

Letters need to be postmarked by December 7th in order to make sure they arrive before the holidays.
