Arrest in Tyson Park peeping Tom

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) An arrest after an attempted sexual assault at Tyson Park not far from the strip where thousands of students roam every day. Police have now charged Stacy Smith in several recent attacks including the attack at Tyson Park. It happened mid-morning, in a very busy park. A woman was using the public bathroom when she saw a man peering under her stall.

Tyson Park is a place where families bring their children to play.
Parent Layla Myers says, "We came out to have a picnic lunch."

It was anything but a picnic for one woman Saturday when a peeping tom tried to attack her in the bathroom. A woman says she was using the women's bathroom when a man got on his hands and knees to look under the stall at her. He used graphic sexual language and profanity to describe what he wanted to do to her. She called 9-1-1 and began to scream.

The man got away. Now police tell us the man they suspect is already in custody. Picked up Tuesday after a similar incident in the bathroom of the Alcoa Big Lots. They also think he's the man who pulled a knife on a greenway in West Hills park a few days ago. They're still looking for the man who sexually assaulted a runner at Ijams Nature Center, and the person who groped a woman on the greenway near UT Gardens. Jessica Ashton says, "It makes you think twice about where you're going to bring your kids to and go alone."

Myers says, "I'm aware it could happen. There are incidents that have happened at malls, grocery stores and in other parks so I try to be cautious."

Ashton says, "I don't want to live life in fear. I'm just going to be aware of our surroundings."
