Crimetracker: Babysitter accused of raping 10 year-old brother and sister, 7

LAFOLLETTE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Parents along one LaFollette neighborhood kept a close watch on their kids for a while.

"I wouldn't even let my kids come outside," said Natasha Walters who wanted to keep her children away from Jeffery Sills, 42, who was babysitting her neighbor's kids.

"One day when we came outside, he actually had his hand down the little girl's pants," Walters said.

LaFollette Police arrested Sills after an investigation they said began in October. He's accused of raping the two children he was expected to take care of: a 7-year-old girl and her 10-year-old brother.

According to police, he also gave the boy marijuana.

Neighbors told Local 8 News he had been babysitting the kids for several months.

Tracie Davis, executive director of Campbell County's Children Center, said most of the cases they see deal with children being abused by people they know and trust.

At the center, children are interviewed, medically examined and given the help they need to recover from the trauma.

"If we can get to them early on and work with the family early on, we see the success. They can live successful lives," Davis said.

Last year, the center reviewed 306 cases of severe abuse in Campbell County.
