Chef Holly Hambright catering to Knoxville food scene | Foodie Friday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- When a catering business turns into a restaurant serving breakfast and lunch daily, you get what many East Tennesseans now know as Holly's Gourmet's Market. Holly Hambright is a familiar face around town and her recipes are probably no stranger to local taste buds.

"It's the simple omelet, and sandwiches to the elaborate seven course dinners, they all have their joy that I get from it," said Holly Hambright.

The South Knoxville native knows foods.

Hambright said, "We have internal competitions to be the best we can be and to give great service and great food every time you walk in the door."

Her catering business turned into Holly's Corner. Earlier this year, Holly's 135 found a home in growing part of downtown Knoxville. Then last month, Hambright added her name to an iconic location in Bearden.

She has a saying: "If it ain't broke, we ain't going to fix it. If it's good, we'll make it great and if it's worn out its welcome, we'll send it on out the door."

Managing the day-to-day is no easy task, but that's why Hambright has staff members like Events Manager, Lisa McCoig.

"It's a very family oriented place and it's usually loud and bustling all the time which is fine with us, that's what we like," said McCoig.

The full service restaurant extends beyond Holly's cooking, it also features Magpie desserts made by her sister, Peg.

McCoig explained, "It's Holly's creativity, it's Holly's recipes from her mama Hazel, it's the fact that she tries to use local ingredients as much as possible.."

The re-grand opening of Holly's Gourmet's Market is Friday, November 6th from 4 to 7 p.m. They are located at 5107 Kingston Pike in Knoxville.
