COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Sexual assault suspect, Richard Sullivan, was captured around 9:00 p.m. Monday night. He is being held in the Cocke County jail.
Deputies are searching for Richard Sullivan, 40. He is wanted for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
The teen told health care workers at Tennova Medical Center yesterday that she was attacked. Police were called and a warrant was issued for Sullivan's arrest.
Officers learned he was at a home on Rankin Hill Road, armed with a gun. According to police, they went to the house around 4:00 a.m. Monday but Sullivan would not surrender.
Police set up a perimeter and called the Tactical Response Team. They tried to contact Sullivan in the home for several hours, but got no response. The Morristown Police Department arrived with their robot and entered the home. Sullivan was gone.
He is considered armed and dangerous.
The teen's mother was arrested at the hospital Sunday night. She's charged with Child Abuse and Neglect.
The Cocke County Sheriff's Department is now investigating allegations involving two teenage girl. One of those is the 15 years old who reported the attack, the other is 13 years old and mentally incapacitated.
