Crimetracker: Burglary suspect, possible accomplice arrested

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knox County Sheriff's Office says it has arrested a man linked to at least five home burglaries and possibly five more in West Knox County.

Kevin George Howard, 59, of Knoxville, was taken into custody on Monday and charged with aggravated burglary and felony theft.

He’s in the Knox County Detention Facility on a $27,500 bond.

Detectives say he kicked in the glass in back doors and took jewelry, which he then sold to gold dealers and pawn shops. According to records, he pawned 47 items for over $4,000.

Investigators also arrested in the case is Debbie Rau, 51, of Knoxville. She is charged with felony theft and is in the Knox County Jail on a $2,500 bond. She is accused of pawning items that Howard stole, selling 24 items for $1,200.

Most of the jewelry has been identified by the owners except for a jewelry box containing miscellaneous costume jewelry. Anyone with information is asked to call the Knox County Sheriff's Office at 215-2243.
