Crimetracker: Woman stabbed in West Knoxville restaurant parking lot

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Police are looking for a homeless man who they say stabbed a woman who was trying to help him.

It happened around 12:35 AM on Sunday at Doc's All American Grille & Sports Bar on Kingston Pike.

Police say the female victim told them a white man came up to her inside the business and told her he was homeless and freezing.

Officers say when they got inside her car, the man pulled a knife, held it to her throat, and demanded money. When she told him she didn't have any cash, they say he stabbed her in the hip.

He then got out of the car and ran away.

Police say the woman was found inside a restroom, and was treated by EMS before being taken to U.T. Medical Center.

The suspect hasn't been located or identified.

On 02/16/2014 at about 12:35 a.m., [an officer] responded to a report of a stabbing at 7355 Kingston Pike. Upon arrival, he found the victim, identified as [redacted], inside a restroom in the business. The victim was being treated by EMS for a stab wound to her right hip area.

The victim reported that a white male approached her inside the club and told her he was homeless and freezing. The suspect asked the victim to take him to a location just off Kingston Pike and told her he would pay her $20 for the transportation.

Once the two got inside the victim's car, the suspect produced a knife, held it to the victim's throat, and demanded the victim's money. When the suspect learned that she did not have any money, and he
stabbed the victim in the hip before he jumped out of the car and ran eastbound on Kingston Pike. The suspect was not immediately located or identified.

The victim was transported to UT Medical Center via Rural Metro EMS. [The victim's] injury was not believed to be life-threatening.
