Firefighters battle another blaze where suspected arsonists arrested

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Firefighters again returned to a north Knoxville home where five suspected serial arsonists were caught and arrested last Fall, the Knoxville Fire Dept. said.

Neighbors first spotted the fire at the single-story home on Srolling Drive Monday night. It had spread to the roof and was braking through the roof ridges by the time firefighters arrived.

Arson investigators believe the fire started in the rear of the home and climbed an outer wall and into the attic. They suspect foul play. Neighbors said that nobody has lived there for months.

No one was home at the time of the blaze. No firefighters were injured battling it.

Last June, firefighters were called to the same home when a detached garage around the back of the home caught fire.

The five people who were previously arrested are now out on probation, firefighters added.

If anyone has any information about how it started, they are asked to call the KFD arson line at 865-637-1386.
