Passengers killed in north Knox County wreck identified

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knox Co. Sheriff's Office has identified the the two men killed in a crash in north Knox Co. Thursday evening. Seventy-three year-old Delford Marlow, Sr. and Delford Marlow, Jr., 38, were both killed in the head-on collision on East Racoon Valley Road.

According to the Sheriff's Office, they were riding with Kimberly Lynn Pointer when her car crossed over the median and into oncoming traffic. the wreck closed both directions of the road.

Both Marlow, Sr., and Marlow, Jr., were pronounced dead on the scene, while Pointer was flown via Lifestar to UT Medical Center. Two people in the other car were rushed to the hospital by Rural Metro. Their names have not been released yet.

The sheriff's office did note that their preliminary investigation indicated neither Marlow Sr. nor Jr. were wearing seatbelts, while Pointer was.

Possible charges may be coming, it added.

Deputies are trying to find a faded red, small, late model Chevy pickup, possibly an S-10. They believe the driver may have witnessed the crash.
